Emberfall Saga
Emberfall Saga is the rare mobile RPG where I cared about the party. The writing isn't Shakespeare, but the companions have enough personality that I rebuilt my team twice just to see who had the best banter. Combat is turn-based with a clean action economy — positioning matters, cooldowns matter, and you can auto-battle the easy stuff while taking manual control of the fights that count.
The progression is generous without being mindless. You earn gear at a steady clip, and the skill trees give real choices rather than flat stat bumps. I spent a happy evening respeccing a healer into a hybrid caster and it genuinely changed how I approached bosses.
My one gripe is the energy system, which can gate a long play session. But the content it gates is solid, and nothing felt padded. For a phone RPG, it's one of the more satisfying ones I've played this year.
